Student of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies Savchenko A.R. completed her studies in Estonia under the Erasmus+ program

During the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, the 1st year master’s student of the GA-25 group of the educational and professional program “Recreational Geography and Geobranding of Territories” Anastasiia SAVCHENKO studied at Tallinn University (Tallinn, Estonia) within the framework of the international credit mobility program Erasmus+. The study took place at the Faculty of Management, Law and Society of Tallinn University.

As part of academic mobility, the student learned the following courses: “Principles of Outdoor Activities and Nature Movement”, “Super-Diversity and Intercultural Communication”, “Globalization and Identity in Society”, “Baltic Sea Region and Cooperation”, “Research Methods in Political Science”. During the studies, the student deepened her knowledge of regional cooperation in the Baltic region, the features of intercultural communication and modern globalization processes. Special attention was paid to studying the experience of Estonia in the field of organizing outdoor activities and developing recreational areas.

The most vivid impressions of her studies were the orienteering quests and hiking trips organized within the course “Principles of Outdoor Activities and Nature Movement”. Participation in these activities allowed her to develop practical skills in orienteering, teamwork and to get acquainted with the natural landscapes of Estonia.

In addition to her studies, Anastasiia actively participated in cultural and international events of the university. Among them were a tour of the Old Town of Tallinn, a trip to Haapsalu with a visit to its castle, an Estonian evening and movie nights for international students. Also during her stay in Estonia, the student visited the city of Tartu and had the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture and characteristics of such countries as Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Finland, Hungary and Albania.

Participation in the Erasmus+ program was a valuable experience in both professional and personal development. Studying in an international environment allowed her to get acquainted with European approaches to education, improve her English language skills and gain new experience in intercultural communication. The knowledge and impressions gained will become a useful basis for further research and writing a master’s thesis dedicated to the formation of a regional tourism brand based on the transformation of urban space. The experience gained during her studies in the Baltic countries, as well as familiarization with the practices of urban environment development and territorial branding, will help in exploring the possibilities of using successful European approaches in Ukraine.

Anastasiia expresses her sincere gratitude to the lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies for their support, organization, and the opportunity to study at Tallinn University within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
