Welcome to the official web-site of K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of the Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Geography and regional studies today are not only about territories, but about the ability to see processes in space, understand relationships, assess the challenges and potential for the development of communities, regions and the state. The department trains bachelors, masters and Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty C6 Geography and Regional Studies in the educational programs “Economic, Social Geography and Regional Development”, “Recreational Geography and Geobranding of Territories”, “Urban planning, Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development of Cities”, “Geography”. It is specialists with spatial thinking who are able to see the holistic picture and find solutions for the restoration and sustainable development of Ukraine.
The K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies of Karazin University is a combination of educational and scientific traditions and modern approaches, a space for intellectual growth, creativity and professional development. We open up opportunities for international internships, academic mobility, participation in international projects, grants and research. Our students and lecturers’ study and collaborate with universities in Romania, Spain, Estonia, Turkey, the Czech Republic, France and other countries, forming a new generation of specialists who will develop Ukraine together.
We invite everyone who seeks to understand spatial processes, explore modern challenges and participate in the development of territories and communities to study. We are also open to cooperation with representatives of government and local authorities, practitioners, public and international organizations, the academic community and all interested partners for joint development of education, science and the future of Ukraine.
