Lecturers of the department participated in the Reflection Workshop as part of the FutureLand project
From June 15 to 17, 2026, lecturers of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies: Kateryna SEGIDA, D.Sc. in Geography, Professor, Liudmyla NIEMETS, D.Sc. in Geography, Professor, and Kateryna KRAVCHENKO, D.Sc. in Geography, Associate Professor, took part in a reflection workshop and consortium meeting as part of the project “Nature Restoration – challenges and opportunities for future landscape specialists” (FutureLand) which were held at the University of Girona (Spain). This project is funded under the Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships for Higher Education (KA220-HED) and involves a partnership between the University of Eastern Finland (Finland), the University of Girona (Spain), the Université luav di Venezia (Italy), the Regional Council of North Karelia (Finland), the Diputació de Girona (Spain), the Ente Parco Regionale Veneto Delta del Po (Italy), and V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine). During the workshop, participants reviewed the results of the “FutureLand” webinar series, analyzed the knowledge and practical experience gained, identified key topics and challenges in the areas of nature restoration and territorial management, and discussed ways to use these results to create educational resources, namely a massive open online course (MOOC), micro-certificates, and learning labs. Particular attention was paid to coordinating the next stages of the project, planning joint partner activities, and preparing for upcoming events. As part of the workshop, a field trip focused on environmental restoration and territorial governance was also organized to the “Armet” camp and experimental farm (Monells), as well as to the restored coastal zone of La Platera (L’Estartit) in Catalonia.
