Kateryna Sehida – D.Sc. in Geography, Professor, Head of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, Faculty of Geology, Geography, Recreation and Tourism, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

She was born on December 1, 1985 in Kharkiv. In 2003, she graduated from the Secondary School No. 160 of Kharkiv with a gold medal. Since 2003, she has studied at the Faculty of Geology and Geography of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, which she graduated with honors in 2008 and received a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Geography. In 2008-2011, she studied at the postgraduate course of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. In 2011, she defended her PhD thesis in the specialty 11.00.02 “Human Geography” ahead of schedule on the topic: “Human-geographical features of the demographic development of the regional social and geographical system (case study of Kharkiv region)”, received the degree of PhD in Geography in the specialty 11.00.02 Human Geography. In 2014-2017, she studied at the doctoral program of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. In 2017, she defended her doctoral thesis in the specialty 11.00.02 “Human Geography” ahead of schedule on the topic: “Human-geographical concept of the geodemographic system of the region”, received the degree of D.Sc. in Geography in the specialty 11.00.02 Human Geography. In 2010-2012 she was being a senior Lecturer, in 2012-2021 – Associate Professor, since 2021 she has been a professor of the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies, since 2025 she has been the Head of the K. Niemets Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies.

She is the Head of the research project of young scientists of state budget financing “Development of methods for analysis and forecasting of demographic processes and population resettlement for the purpose of optimization” (2016-2018). Head of the research project of young scientists “Formation of the human potential of Ukraine through the elimination of demographic problems” (Grant of the President of Ukraine to support scientific research of young scientists for 2018). Responsible executor of the research project “Territorial planning of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region based on demographic potential: theoretical and methodological development” (2016-2017), “Human-geographical justification of the formation of united territorial communities in the Pervomaisky district of the Kharkiv region” (2017) and “Greater Kharkiv: justification and theoretical and methodological basis for the study of modern agglomeration processes” (2021).
